Lebanon — When your the second ranked team in the state, undefeated in conference, and are 12-2, you don’t necessarily anticipate having many issues with teams unless they’re among the best of the best. For Central Linn, while they hit some snags along the way, the Cobras from Halsey didn’t have any issues shrugging it off Thursday night at East Linn Christian.
Central Linn Starts Hot, Take The First Set
The second ranked Cobras hit the throttle and blazed a trail in the first set, opening up advantages of 10-3 and 20-8. East Linn would fight back late in the set, but Central Linn still cruised to a 25-12 first set victory. The Eagles would hit back in the second set, having the Cobras locked in a 5-5 game early.
East Linn Christian Fights Hard In Sets 2 and 3, But Central Linn Is Too Much

The took a 16-15 lead on a 2-0 run, eventually making it an 18-15 Eagles lead. After Central Linn closed the gap to 18-17, they would retake the lead and make it a 2-0 advantage with a 25-19 second set victory.
The last set was slightly different, but still hard fought. With a 4-4 tie early, Central Linn broke it open with a 7-0 run, taking an 11-4 lead. After East Linn’s 3-0 run made it 11-7, the Cobras went on an 11-2 run and made it 22-9. Interviewing Sydney Northern and Kalyn Lafayette
With the sweep of East Linn Christian, Central Linn remains undefeated in conference play. Cobras Sydney Northern and Kalyn Lafayette took the time to talk with me about the win and the season so far.
Northern on making a pursuit to a state championship, “Its going to be about working as a team, we can’t fall apart as a team because thats how we win games. Its not just about how well we play, its about having a team that works well together.”
Lafayette on how hard East Linn challenged the Cobras, “I think it was really cool that although we came in thinking we’ll do really well, it was cool to see them comeback and give us a challenge. Its cool to see them work hard and give us some humility.”
